EDITORIAL

BURN AFTER WEAVING CREATIVE DESTRUCTION IN FAIRY TALES • When we weave—when we carefully plan our patterns, wind the warp, warp the loom, and pack down weft hills—we are feeding an old hunger that calls to our deepest selves; we are participating in an act of creation. The Oxford English Dictionary explores the etymology of words—their origins and evolution over time. Within this tome, the word creation is associated with several definitions. One states that creation is “an original production of human intelligence, power, skill, or art; esp. a work of imagination,” while another describes it as “the action or process of bringing something into existence from nothing by divine or natural agency.”
