Editor’s Letter

Channeling the MASTERS • HISTORY’S STYLE DYNAMOS TAKE THE MODERN STAGE IN A BURST OF NEW COLLECTIONS.

Cleo’s Sacred Serpents • The jeweled protectors of the Egyptian queen Cleopatra flex their power anew in sublimely scaled cuffs, coiled earrings, and more.

Gio Ponti’s KEY PATTERN, RECAST • London textile studio Vanderhurd puts a modern spin on the Italian architect’s signature border, edging a wave of new fabrics and rugs in fresh shades from sienna to cypress.

Jayne’s Addiction: Bold Brackets • Decorative display shelves like those favored by renowned collector Jayne Wrightsman reemerge with sculptural gusto, elevating motifs like trelliswork, trefoil, and scallop shells to high art.

FLEURS DE ROTHSCHILD • Inspired by the family’s iconic bird pattern released in 1860, Herend’s new flora-rich Foret Garland porcelain pays homage to the extraordinary tablescapes of Pauline de Rothschild—in particular, her penchant for “landscape tables,” alive in flowering branches, verdant leaves, even mosses foraged around her French estate.

Jean-Michel’s GUTSY GLAMOUR • The material genius of Jean-Michel Frank returns in Holly Hunt’s new Ecart collection, debuting original reproductions of the master’s work and with them, a bow to elemental beauty, from humble straw to shagreen.

Dior’s Divine Seating • Famously paraded out for guests during his fashion shows, the French couturier’s Louis XVI-style medallion chair reemerges in a hand-sculpted reboot by artist Joy de Rohan Chabot—one of 17 museum-quality designs in tribute to the sartorial pioneer.

SCAGLIOLA À LA RENZO • The divine deceit that employs plaster to imitate heavy stones like marble—and mastered by theatrical architect Renzo Mongiardino—is back, its bold brushstrokes turning up in new pieces by Martin Brudnizki and other contemporary designers. “The abstract sense of color and texture with such a smooth finish inspired me,” he says. “And Mongiardino was a master.”

VIVA DONGHIA • An icon of American elegance, Angelo Donghia’s artistry returns afresh in “Donghia II,” the first new collection since the brand was purchased by Kravet in 2020. Inspired by “art, architecture, and fashion” as well as the legend himself, Donghia creative director Doug Garfinkle says the designs are both an homage and a leap forward. “Angelo never stopped pushing boundaries,” he says. “This collection—bold, modern, confident—sets the tone for the future.”

Bunny’s Rare Jewels • They’re back: the nature-inspired baubles commissioned by Rachel “Bunny” Mellon from 20th-century design star Jean Schlumberger reemerge in a new tribute collection from Tiffany & Co., each piece as dazzling as her botanical vision.

Cousteau’s OCEAN ODYSSEY • The oceanographer Jacques Cousteau opined that once the sea casts its spell, “it holds one in its net of wonder forever.” Consider Australian designer Anna Spiro forever captive: Her new hand-painted undersea wallpaper for de Gournay was inspired by daily swims off Stradbroke Island near Brisbane, “immersing myself in the natural abundance.”

SHIFTING TIDES • From spiny urchin jewels to fish scale trim, deep-sea élan is heating up.

A TOAST to the HUNT • THE ROAD TO ROUND TOP GOES THROUGH JAN SHOWERS’S HILLSBORO, TEXAS, HOME, WITH A SPRING LUNCHEON FOR FAIR-BOUND FRIENDS.

Soulful Settings • A Loving Table unlocks the stories behind top hostesses’ treasured family traditions.
