Charley Davidson isn't your everyday, run-of-the-mill grim reaper. She's more of a paranormal private eye/grim reaper extraordinaire. However, she gets sidetracked when the sexy, sultry son of Satan, Reyes Farrow, moves in next door. To further complicate matters, Reyes is her main suspect in an arson case. Charley has vowed to stay away from him until she can find out the truth...but then dead women start appearing in her apartment, one after another, each lost, confused, and terrified beyond reason. When it becomes apparent that her own sister, Gemma, is the serial killer's next target Charley has no choice but to ask for Reyes' help. Arsonist or not, he's the one man alive who could protect Gemma no matter who or what came at her. But he wants something in return. Charley. All of her, body and soul. And to keep her sister safe, it is a price she is willing to pay.
Charley Davidson is at it again in Fifth Grave Past the Light, the sexy, suspenseful, and laugh-out-loud funny fifth installment of the New York Times bestselling series by Darynda Jones.

Paranormal private eye Charley Davidson must make a deal with the son of Satan in order to save her sisterâs life in this thrilling new addition to the supernatural series from Jones. Narrator Lorelei Kingâs inspired interpretation of Jonesâs characters allows listeners to truly lose themselves in this otherworldly tale. Kingâs delivery is well paced and simple, and her characterizations lend the book an air of believability and immediacy. Kingâs Charley is tough, sexy, and brave without ever being overtly so. The supporting characters allow Charley to grow and expand, and listeners will get a full spectrum of emotion from their heroine. Inspired, realistic, and entertaining, Kingâs performance ability is the perfect medium for Jonesâs witty and cunning prose. A St. Martinâs hardcover.

Charley Davidson, a grim reaper, navigates lost souls, serial killers, murderous husbands and the son of Satan as she solves crimes and ushers spirits into the light. It's not easy being someone who can see ghosts, especially as a grim reaper, who has the complicated task of helping spirits move into the next spiritual plane. Charley, the daughter and niece of cops, has taken on the additional earthly role of solving crimes as a private investigator and consultant to the Albuquerque police force, often with the secret help of spirit allies. So when more than a few mysteries crop up, both in the real world and the ghostly realm, she's one busy lady. Surrounded by a close circle of trusted friends on both sides of life, she is suddenly confronted with the possibility of a serial killer who's been under the radar for decades and may be after her sister. Meanwhile, she must scrutinize an open arson case that points to Reyes Farrow as the culprit, much as she doesn't want to face the possibility of his guilt. The guy is hotter than Hades, which makes sense, she guesses, since apparently that's where he comes from. And if all that isn't enough, she has to figure out who's trying to kill her, too. Fun times. Good thing she's perfected the art of gliding through life with a cheeky, wisecracking attitude while doing her best not to show any emotion, no matter how deeply she cares. The fifth installment of Jones' popular Charley Davidson series is jam-packed with unique supernatural elements, an assortment of fascinating characters and enough going on to keep readers guessing until the very end and beyond, since the last few chapters introduce new series elements that deepen the mystery of Charley and Reyes' bond. While the book stands on its own and is accessible without previous books, readers may want to start at the beginning of the series for the best experience. A clever, fast-paced, rollicking paranormal romantic suspense which will leave fans breathless and keep them coming back for more.

Gutsy, wise-cracking PI Charlotte Charley Davidson has a highly unusual clientele that includes the dead as well as the living. Right now, in addition to her usual spectral guests, Charley's apartment is filled with the ghosts of 20 blonde women, all of whom were brutally murdered by a serial killer. In fact, their deaths were so horrific they can't speak to herthey just relive their murders over and over. Charley has other problems. There's the undead nurse who appears as a ghost, the naked spirit who has claimed the passenger seat in her Jeep, and the growing suspicion that Charley's perfect crime-solving record involves more than good investigative skills. As for her love life, with incredibly handsome Reyes, the son of Satan, for a soulmate, you know that things are going to get hot. From its unique premise to its wonderfully imaginative characters, Jones' award-winning Charley Davidson mystery series, from First Grave on the Right (2011) onward to this fifth delectable installment, will continue to attract and delight a broad spectrum of readers.(Reprinted with permission of Booklist, copyright 2013, American Library Association.)

After winning a RITA Award for Best First Book for First Grave on the Right, Jones has led this series to New York Times bestsellerdom. Now, in the fifth book, grim reaper Charley Davidson must call on dazzling but big-trouble Reyes Farrow, the son of Satan himself, when victims of a serial killer swamp her apartment and her sister looks like the next victim. Of course there's payback.

Jones (Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet) continues dragging out the now-stale romance between PI grim reaper Charley Davidson and sexy Reyes Farrow, Son of Satan . Charley is avoiding an angry adulterer, who caught her investigating him, and the 27 dead blonde women filling her apartment. Naturally she ends up in Reyes's apartment next door, where he's living while working as a short order cook in her father's bar. Despite prophecy, the long-awaited culmination of their sexual passion does not particularly change the universe. Only Charley's best friend, Garrett Swopes, still seems interested in uncovering why Hell wants Charley, despite that supposedly being a central plot point. Though Jones's ghost-mediated murder mysteries are clever and her sex scenes are hot, the characters and jokes have worn out their welcome. If she keeps withholding the grand showdown, there's no reason for her readers to remain interested.
